Well, first of all, the file extension should be .e x e, not .e x, as you 
wrote below; but that might just be your typo, below.

Second, I don't know why this should make a difference, but I'd try running 
the installation program from your desktop, rather than your dl folder. 
Also, before you do anything, I'd do a hard reboot, just to start from a 
presumed default state of your machine.\
