Hmmm, hope it works, I really hate those things which are "driver specific" or depend on software to work, it's a sad fact of life that a lot of stuff for Windows is like that these days.

Well, that's exactly what she wants to do, but as I said in my original post, all atempts to get the external sound card seem to be failing. It *does* show up in device manager, and Winamp does see it. She set it up so that her speech would come from her internal card on the laptop she's using, and Winamp is set so it goes through the external card, but that's just it, no sound from the external card which is what started this whole thing. It certainly looks like a driver issue, she has not installed the software cd that came with the card yet, but she's going to try to get a pare of working eyes to help with that and we'll see if that doesn't do the trick.
