Hi John,

I don't think yu are doing anything wrong, it is possible that 
Windows Media Player can't play .APE files unless there is a plug-in 
available to play these files using Windows Media Player.  Winamp 
will definitely play .APE files though.  To get Winamp to play .APE 
files you need to install the Monkeys Audio program available from 
www.monkeysaudio.com.  When you install Monkeys Audio you will be 
given the option of installing a Winamp plug-in to play .APE 
files.  I hope this helps.
