Near the bottom of the remote are the number keys. The ones near the top are for programming. The one on the top left turns on my DVD. The next button turns on the TV. Above that one turns it off. All the way to the right to the top is a button you push. Below that there is a row of three. The second of the three is for turning on the VCR. There's a lot I'm not sure about it, but I can turn on those appliances. I don't need to use the TV remote any more, and for the most part, I don't need to use the DVD player remote; but I still need to use my VCR remote because I have a Zenith talking VCR. I still use the Surround remote for doing things with that. I haven't yet trained my new remote to do all the functions on that.
