Hi. I can't answer the second question cause I've never used the program, but from the context of the first question, I'm thinking that the "switch to mini mode" button does just what it says, decreases the sonic window to a smaller size to take up less of the screen so that you can have it and other programs open at the same time. Or some sighted users just might like the smaller window.
