Hello, Well, since you are trying to read CDs that were also burned, then I am not sure what is going on. Maybe your new drive does not like the brand of CD that you are trying to read. I have heard of some players that would not work well with certain brands of CDs.
As far as the control + number one keystroke, yes, you can use it more than once to add files to your burn list. It just takes any folder or files that you have currently selected and adds it to your burn list. So you can select a few files in one location, then hit control + number one and it will add those files to your burn list. Then you can go to another location and select some more files, then hit control + number one again and it will add those files to the burn list. You can do this as many times as you need to until you have all of the files you want to burn in your list.
