Allison,
Sounds like a job for a good bulk renamer!  I use a freeware utility called 
Lupas 
Rename that works wonders!  Point it to the directory where the files are 
located, go to the 
auto-number tab' and specify that the number should be placed before the 
filename.  You should be able 
to find it or a similar program at most popular download cites.
