My audio situation has suddenly gone crazy and I am hoping someone can help me. This is only problematic when trying to download MP3's in Internet Explorer. In the past week, my MP3's have started streaming instead of downloading when I am on a web page and press enter on an MP3. I can right click and choose save target, but as Jaws users know, this is not easy. When it starts streaming and I try to close the Explorer window, my browser crashes. Also, despite the fact that Winamp is the default player for MP3's, something else is playing them when I try to download with the latest build and version of IE and I do not know what it is. I went into my folder options and looked at the file types tab. Winamp does indeed show as the default player for MP3's, but something else is grabbing them when I am on a web site. When I press enter on an MP3 from a folder on my hard drive, Winamp plays the file appropriately. I have Windows XP Home, SP2, with all the latest patches. I also have the newest Windows Media Player, having just installed it this weekend. A family member did install Itunes on my system at about the same time, so I am not sure exactly what caused things to get messed up. I do have Real Player, but it has been on my system for quite a while and has been well-behaved after I configured it a while back, so I don't think it is the cause of the problem. I just wish I could figure out what the heck is grabbing these MP3's from the web! I am incredibly distressed about this situation, as whatever player is grabbing the MP3's is very loud and there do not seem to be any volume controls. Confirm open after download is checked. If this Itunes is going to muck things up like this, I would be glad to get rid of it! Even with Replay AV, when I tell it to download a podcast, it opens it now instead of downloads. After my sister installed Itunes, I noticed that there was a Quick Time icon in my system tray. Thinking that this was the problem, I did go into the Quick Time preferences and told it to get rid of the system tray icon, but that did not help, even after rebooting. Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.
