What you really need to ask is whether your television service
provider can send the proper codes to the card to authorize it for use
on their network.  You may also discover, much to your annoyance, that
the channel mapping differs between what a set-top box would know and
what your TV tuner card would know.  Case in point:  Here in
Manhattan, a friend connected his Media Center PC directly to his
cable.  QVC, which was channel 55 on his box, was accessed at channel
200-something through Media Center controlling the tuner card.  He's
not paying for any premium services so there's no issue of tuner-card
authorization, it apparently just works like it should on regular
"basic" channels.  Be careful, this could happen to you with the cards
mentioned.
