Terry Lynn While there are alternatives available for playing these files, as already has been outlined, here is something that you might wish to consider as an instructor. Sure, they do exist; but also Real Player is the Real McCoy, so to speak, and was designed from the ground up to work with everything RP is supposed to work with. Hence, a student, while certainly able to use these substitutes (generic alternatives), he/she also should be prepared that there is the possibility that some things may not work as expected; and these things might not be obvious ones at this point. The current version of RP works well with current versions of WE and JFW; and, as an instructor, you may be causing untold frustration to yourself and creating problems to solve later if the generic choice is made. Hence, if I were in your shoes, I'd strongly urge your student to stick with the namebrand rather than the generic.
