Also, what works is an external sound card. We have 2. external sound cards from "Sound Blaster; they work really well. Especially for a lap-top computer. I use the internal sound card, but if I have problems I can use the sound blaster external card For my IBM THINK-PAD lap-top. and it has a separate mich and head phone jack. Kim.
