Well, don't know anything specific as you did not give any information on the phone, but when you said your computer went dead did you mean there was a loss of speech? If that was it then nothing is wrong with your computer when you hooked it up. USB phones have their own sound cards built into them and as soon as you plug them in to the USB port they start using that sound card. Just pick up the phone and you should hear your speech program through it. Go to control panel/sounds. Click on the audio tab and fix up your Windows defaults again.
