I myself here use Total Recorder in conjunction with other products
such as Sound Forge etc on the Pc, as Steve's already pointed out,
Total Recorder and Sound Forge for example are 2 different programmes
and cannot be compared with one and other though having said that if
you just want something that records just about everything that can
be recorded and something that provides you with a simple audio
editing interface along with various tools to polish your recordings
such as noise reduction, faid control, audio gain controls etc then
Total Recorder may be the cheap solution to your needs.
I've never had a problem with the Total Recorder driver and software
recording and that's probably because I don't use software speech on
my PC, prefering to use a hardware voice synthesizer.
Now on my Mac? Well, its a totally different story as I use Sound
Studio which has affectively bundled all the features of Total
Recorder and Sound Forge into one nice lean little package and its
cheap too, I don't know what the current price is but I paid $89.00
for it about 8 months ago.

Hi all!
I'm curious about total recorder, but I have some concerns. It's my
understanding that it installs drivers which may or may not interfere
with the performance of Jaws. I've also been told that these drivers
can be disabled, and was wondering if there was a way to insure the
stability of jaws while still electing to use the drivers provided by
total recorder. I know a lot of people who swear by this program, and
was wondering whether or not any of you think that it measures up to
other programs like goldwave, sound forge, and audacity. Thanks!
