Let me add one comment here:

I use RP10.5 as my default player and allow it to play anything and 
everything it possibly can.
I have no problems due to this and I have some nice added features for 
this including a "search" feature which allows me to go to any point 
within a file within seconds.
Like any piece of software, you have to watch what it installs, certainly.
I've been using the various incarnations of RP for nearly 7 years.
It is my player of choice whenever possible.
Yes, in its early days, initial setup was difficult for a blind user and 
my sighted wife helped me through that.
The folks at Real Networks have worked with screen reader vendors to 
improve this, and I have, on my own, done installs and set ups.

Like any piece of software, some will like it, some will prefer something 
else, and some may be neutral.
Judge RP for yourselfm I'd urge.
