Hi guys, I've been trying to get in to commercial radio for four years or so. I spent 8 years at a college radio station where we followed a playlist for our top 40 format. The college wouldn't buy us automation software. My question is, how do you pay your dues when you can't get hired to pay them? In the San francisco bay area, I tried to get on as a board op at a few of the stations and every time I was politely declined. I now take reservations for a major hotel chain. While it's not what I want to do, the pay is ok and I get to spend nights and weekends with my wife and almost 2 year-old daughter. What do you guys suggest? I've sent tapes out to stations in the salt lake city market where I live and no nibbles. Thanks for any replies.
