Yes, that was my question: how to turn that dialog back on and where it 
originates.

I believe this is a nice feature of windows if you are paranoid like me
and want windows to ask permission to access anything, instead of just
going and doing it. Just arrow thru the choices each time it comes up.
If you turn it off, I do not know how to turn it back on. I think that's
your question.

After I insert a cd, a dialog box comes up which has seven choices as to

what action I want the computer to perform each time I insert a cd. My
question is where does this dialog originate from and is there a way to
change my preference at a later time?
