Hi Sharon!  Welcome to the list!  MP3 is a more compressed format than wav. 
MP3 is a tenth the size of wav; therefore, you can put up to ten hours of 
recordings on a CD at 128 KBPS, that's kilobits per second, I believe.  Hope
