Hello Randy!

May be your microphone was
muted or it is not yet
configure.

To check weather it is
configure or not, do the
following:
1. Open volume control.
Usually, it is located at 
start menu, All Programs sub
menu, Accessories sub menu,
Entertainment sub menu, and
press V, for Volume control.
2. Once you are there, press
your alt + P, and look for
"Property".
3. Press Tab key twice, and
you will land on a different
controls.
4. Press your down arrow key
and look for Microphone or Mic
check box.
5. If your microphone is not
configured, it is uncheck by
default, but, if it is
configured already, it is
check by default.
6. Once you are done, press
your tab key again and look
for "Ok button". Press your
enter key once you found it.

to check weather your
microphone is muted or not, do
the following:
1. Assuming that you are in
Volume control, press your tab
key and look for the
Microphone or mic slider.
2. Once you found it, press
your Page up key until you
reach 80%.
3. Once you are done, press
tab key once and you will land
ion a mute check box.  If the
check box is checked, press
your space bar to uncheck.
Then, you can hear your self
while talking to your
microphone.
4. close volume control once
you are finish.
