I had a lot of crackling with Eloquence when I got this new computer and it's onboard Realtek sound chip. This was fixed by two driver updates. The first fixed slight crackling during playback of any media. The second got rid of clicks at the beginning of sounds and speech.
The only audio problem I'm having now is while recording with Sound Forge 5. I still get a bit of glitching even after following all the advice to tune up SF and my computer. I just got a free upgrade to SF7 from Sony so will see if this is better. I'm a bit worried that the chipset on my motherboard may not be good for audio and midi, especially multi-track recording and latency. I understand it really doesn't matter whether you have an AMD or Intel processor. What matters are the controller chip sets on the motherboard. I'd suggest going to the Creative user forums and finding out what's up. I was thinking of getting an X-Fi my self as a second audio only card because I wanted the "SoundFont" technology. However, I think I'll get a M-Audio card instead. To bad Creative isn't as good with their updates as Realtek. You would think by now they would understand text-to-speech. since the old AWE32 came with a special version of DecTalk which was tuned for their onboard DSP. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Brian Hansen" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subject: Crackling & Problems With The Creative X-FI Card? > I'm currently running into problems with the Creative Labs X-FI card.
