And, as you discovered, if it is re-writable, your commercial CD deck won't 
play it. There's no way out of this dilemma, short of getting a newer CD 
deck capable of playing CDRWs. Just be sure, in future, that you know 
exactly what you're about to burn to a CDR before you do so. And, as for the 
CDRs you've already wasted, chalk them up to the learning curve; or you 
could use them as coasters, Frisbees, or Hip-hop jewelry. <grin>
