Tom, In Window Eyes, after you have begun recording, hit the numpad 7 key, which takes you to the top left corner of the screen. Then hit the numpad 2 key to read each successive line. At some point, Window Eyes will say "l" without the quot marks. Hitting the numpad 2 one more time will then read a one or two-digit number followed by percent, depending on how punctuation is set. This is the V U reading which I usually adjust to about 60 percent when recording.
I am certain this can also be done in JFW, but I don't know just how.
