Hi Joanne,
I have a dvd recorder/player, and if I insert a Andy Grifith dvd it goes 
through all of the previews of other tv shows that are available then 
through the FBI warnings, then the epasode list comes up to where you can 
play one at time or hit "play all" and it will play all of the shows all the 
way through.  you might try to remove the disc then insert it again and make 
sure there isn't anything on the disc to make it skip, I had one that i 
couldn't play in my burner but could play on my computer and portable dvd
