And what is Real Alternative. Is this a non-RN product that will play RealAudio streams, and that will allow its default audio output device to be assigned to a device other than the Windows default audio output device? If so, is it freeware, shareware, purchaseware, etc?

Yes, it's true that some sites have only those two to choose from.  Some
