Hi what you need to do is the cord that is plugged in to your stereo from your computer. I am talking about the one that is letting the sound from your computer go to your stereo. Goes to your local radio shack store and look in to getting something I believe it is called a ground loop ice-alater and when you get one of those you take it and connect that to whatever end of the cord you witch. Like for example on the end that plugs in to your computer or on the end that is connected to your stereo and once you have that connected that should get rid of the hum for you. I got that same hum when I had my computer connected to my mixer witch is connected to my stereo and that is what I was advised to look in to getting to solve that humming. So I hope you understand what I am trying to explain and let me know if that solves the hum that you are having if you wish to do that.

Subject: Stareo ground hum

In an attempt to get rid of ground hum or electrical hum between the
computer and stereo I moved the computer next to the stereo.
I have two serge protectors next to each other using the same plugin because
I have a lot of things around that area.

Now I had the computer and stereo plugged in to the same serge and one in
each one and wile the hum seems to be a bit quieter, it is still there.

Anyone have any ideas on what I can do to filter out this hum. I rent an
older home, but the electrical plugin I am using is new so I would be
limited on what I can try to eliminate this noise.
I did shorten the cord between the computer and stereo, but no difference.

Short of going out and buying a usb external card and hoping that will some
how work better any ideas?

Thanks.
