2 CD burner questions

Hi, this is Steve with 2 CD burning questions. First, if I am burning a lot 
of CDs in a single session, would I need to take a break at some point 
because of the heat of the burner, and possibly causing errors?
Second, is there a ball park figure of the life of a burner which is used 
fairly regularly?
