Oh boy, that depends, what are you looking for in an MP3 player? Do you want a hard drive player, or do you want to be able to play CD's? Do you want a radio and a recorder? Do you want it to play Audible books? How much do you want to spend? Lets see, not knowing exactly what you want, I'll try to answer your question. First of all, if you want to play books from Audible as well as music, you can try the Muvo player, its a 128 GB player that is the size of a pack of gum and is less than $100. They have a 256 MB player, but I don't know how accessible it is. To check it out, read this month's edition of Access World. Now to the HD players, the best are either the IRiver H140, or the Archos studio players/recorders. The Archos ones can be found on EBay or Amazon. These players, including the IRivers are recognized as another drive by your computer so you just copy files to them. also, the Archos has an alternative firmwear program called Rockbox that you can download to the player/recorder. It will speak the menus and spell the directories and file names. Rockbox is being worked on to be able to be used by the IRiver players. I have the Archos studio 20GB recorder with Rockbox. I like it. The only draw backs are: 1. no radio. 2. Its heavy and big compared to other players. 3. Can only play MP3 files. 4. Only has a 10 hour battery life. What player is best to bookmark a file, if you just get an mp3 player to listen to mp3's and cd's? I don't want to download anything into it, I just want to put and play an mp3 into it.
