Richard, This is where things start to get interesting. I am running xp home. I do not have a multimedia option in control panel. I have multi-channel sound manager but there is no check box in here which would suggest it would do the same as the one you refer to. You may have to close one program to use the other It seems like there may be a setting that we are overlooking somewhere, or the 2 programs may not be compatible. It's hard to say, without being able to duplicate the same setup here. I use total recorder, but not Skype. Do you have both, or either program loading at startup?
