Hi Tom,
First of all it's essential that the cd is closed at the end of the burning session. This has to be done with audio CDs. Many older cd players cannot play cd-rw.

The other thing about burning speed is more a rumer then some scientific proof. What is more importent is you have to get some disks that works good with your specific brand of cd recorder. For example tdk are good with plextor. Philips are bad for liteon and so on. One importent rule though is not to burn at a faster speed then the disks are certified for. Is the cd burner just a few years old and has a very dirty linze the thing about slowing may or may not help. I've had quite a few burners now since 1995 and i'm pretty sure I know what i'm talking about. grin
The cd brand not fitting the burner can course you much more trouble then any thing else.

Best regards
Brian
