Hi Matthew.

MP3TRIM is accessible and is able to trim beginning and end of MP3 tracks
without re-encoding. It can normalise but I would recommend MP3GAIN over
MP3TRIM for this any day.

You can't actually trim out part of the track but you could decide that you
wished to trim off 2 or 3 minutes of a track if it were at the beginning or
end for example. You can trim using time or frames.

What you need to bear in mind is that there are 3 flavours of MP3TRIM:

Freeware: cannot do batches of files. You can only process one file at a
time and it must be less than 5MB in size.

Personal: This costs approximately $15 and allows you to process files of
any size.

Professional: This version costs approximately $30 and will allow you to
process batches of files and there is no restriction on file size.

Trimming can cover two different objectives.
a. you may want to trim digital silence; this can be done automatically
or
b.  you may want to trim clicks or pops at the beginning or end of files;
this is done manually by you selecting the number of frames to remove.

MP3TRIM will let you preview the beginning and end of the file so you can
see how your trim sounds before you save the file. You can also fade in and
fade out and preview in the same way. The period of 5 secondds is
configurable if you prefer a longer or shorter preview time.
