Kevin! I haven't actually seen an R-1. However Edirol has described it to me and I'm sure it's accessible with its buttons and a jog wheel. At least as accessible as the Sony MZB-1 which has been so popular with blind users. They warned me that deleting files might be a problem but then you can do that from the computer. When the device is connected to the computer it looks just like an additional hard drive. I own other Edirol products and they have buttons, sliders and switches. There is no loudspeaker.
