No version of real player is good for you.  From a standpoint, you have two 
options.  The first and most stable option is to go searching for "Real 
Alternative."  It is as it says.  There are also plugins for Winamp that can 
play Real media files, and a friend of mine made it so you do not need Real 
player at all for those, but Real Alternative, from what I hear is better.
