Iam currently using Nero 5.5,
and, yes you can burn mp3's to disk to listen to on your pc.
Just use the wizard, and burn it as a data disk.
As far as a backup program, I use Karen's replicator.
I use it to backup files and folders from various locations on my hard
drives.
These are all backed up to a location, which I burn to disk with Nero
everyday.
Amixed mode cd contains for example, some data files, and audio files.
I haven't used this for some time, so I would have to check it out again,
before I can tell you any more.
