  You're not doing anything wrong; whatever you've chosen your default player
  to be, it's still going to have to download the file into it before you can
  play it.

  Hello

  I am trying to listen to Mp3 files on a web site before downloading them.
  Each time I press enter on the file it brings up the dowload dialogue box.
  However, if I bring up the context menu with right click and then select the
  open option using either spacebar, enter, or left click the download box is
  still activated. What am I doing wrong please?
