Hi Marco, I have the same problem with Jaws. You can go to support at Freedom Scientific, and put the word "crackle" in the search box in the knowledge base.
You will come up with 2 different sites where you can find drivers which can correct the problem. One of them is a patch from Creative Labs which is supposed to eliminate the crackle. I tried that, with no luck. I got a message saying I didn't have the proper registered keys (What ever that means.) The other is a site where you can download drivers which are old analog software. I opted just to keep the crackle. It was not as important to me as keeping the digital sound. Hope that helps.
