No. If you have a Soundblaster Live card then you have what it takes to transfer your cassettes to the computer. You also need a sound editor, such as Cdex or if you can afford it, Goldwave or Sound Forge. I hear Goldwave is cheaper but don't know the prices of these various sound editors. I use Cdex as it is a free download. I don't remember the site where I got it, but I think one site is www.freefunfiles.com I'm not sure, though. A Google search might help you find it easily on a number of different sites.
Although Cdex may be primitive and not have certain features such as noise reduction, it is easy to use. I don't know if they upgrade that software, because the version I am currenntly using is 1.5. I also have 1.3 on file on one of my CD's, maybe several CD's. Others on the list will be able to guide you. Whatever sound editor you use, I wissh you many happy hours of encoding your collection. You can also encode from vinyl if you have those old records lying around. Mimi ----- Original Message ----- From: "frank DeWeese" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: "PC audio discussion list.
