I posted some questions about using Audacity multitrack software on this
list, and then to the audacity users list. I got a response which others on
this list may find useful. Forwarded with permission.

Subject: Re: [Audacity-users] Questions from a blind Audacity user

David,

We're very interested in adding more features to make Audacity really
usable by blind people. I think it would be a really fun challenge; we
just haven't gotten around to it yet.

In the meantime, I've collected some ideas on how you might be able to
work with selections in Audacity. Rather than include them to this
email message, I decided to add them to the Wiki, so that you and other
users can add your own thoughts and suggestions, too. Try this link:

Here are specific answers to your questions:

1. See my Wiki page for ideas on how to work with selections. It will
require a lot of patience but it is possible.

2. To add silence at the end of a track, move the cursor to the end
(hit the End key on your keyboard), then select Silence from the
Generate menu. This will add 30 seconds of silence each time.

3. You don't need anything other than the VST enabler to use VST
plug-ins.
