Hi Folks,

I need to understand something here...

First, let me say that I have Win XP Service Pack One. As some of you may be
aware, XP comes with a built-in speech option, called Narrator

It gives you the Microsoft Sam voice by default!!!

I need to understand why I cannot seem to add the SAPI five point one TTS
engine on XP. I have installed the SAPI five point one version, and it did
not give any error, however, no good, folks. I still only have the Microsoft
Sam voices. I can not seem to get JAWS to use anything else, as there is
nothing else to use, when looking in the voices combo box. Now, another
thought, I have Ventrilo, which is an Internet Chat Client. I wonder if the
new SAPI five point one multi-voice option would have only been applicable
to other programs that need it. It should be noted that in the control panel
of XP, even after installing the new SAPI five point one engine, there was
still only one voice option, you guessed it, Microsoft Sam. He was the only
default voice contained in the speech option of the XP control panel.

Is the SAPI five point one TTS engine usable under XP or does the fact that
Narrator is installed, and has already a TTS engine on him, causing my
problem?? Please help.
