Shannon! You can convert a text book to MP3 at any bit rate allowed by Text Aloud. The higher the bit rate the better the fidelity but the more room it will take up. A synthesizer reading text probably doesn't need all the fidelity that music would for you. Most people encode talking books etc. at low bit rates so that they can fit more on a CD or MiniDisk. It comes down to whatever sounds good enough to you. I am happy with much lower bit rates than most people, like 11 or 22 KBPS. As far as getting the MP3 to the MiniDisk either you'll have to just record it onto the MiniDisk or download it to the MiniDisk if your MiniDisk machine allows it which most of the Sony's don't. The new ones due out this month do allow this. By the way the term burning applies to making music CD's or copying data to CD's.
