Honestly, the PortaPros and SportaPros are the only Koss phones I have heard that sound good. I think they use Titanium drivers, but not sure. Anyhow, they have deep tight bass, and very clean mids and highs. I would say there may be some coloration to the bass if you are a purist, but I happen to love their sound keeping in mind that these are portable headphones. I have other headphones that definitely sound better, but at 9 times the price of the PortaPros. I think if you check any of the headphone geek sites, you would find an almost unanimous opinion that they are probably the best sounding headphones in the under $80 to $100 price range.
