Dave,

The following approach worked for me with a' Sound Blaster Live Edition'
after migrating from 'Window 98 Second Edition' to "Windows XP Home".

Go to the following address and select the operating system and soundblaster
card from the lists.  You'll get a list of files to download, you just need
the drivers.
http://www.asia.creative.com/support/drivers/

Then open the attached zip file, read the readme for instructions on how to
run the included program.
