Hi Don. I have an olympus ds330. it has a built-in speaker, it comes
bundled with software that I needed sighted help for with only mouse click
then all the rest was accessible and continues to be so. Erasing is easy,
and when all are erased, it beeps. I do not believe you can vary the
compression rate, except that you have 2 modes standard and extended play
and standard is about phone quality, e p lay is old telephone quality. You
transfer the files to your pc via the usb port. You can configure it to
automatically change the files from dss to wav, which is nice. if you want
to hear the quality of standard play, visit the acb radio csun diary and
check out some of the interviews from the exhibit area.
