I participated in the Palm OS Developer Program for three years as a member. Today I was not able to login to https://www.developerpavilion.com/palmos/ to continue downloading stuff postponed yesterday. It responded with something new: "There is no SHOPPER with that email and/or password. Please try again...". Next, on "Forgot Password" login I received: "There is nobody registered with the email address ... We suggest you register as a new visitor to our site". Great! I would not mind.. However, there must be a difference between a member and a visitor. It seems like they cancelled my membership. And I cannot see any reference to complain. Please give me a hand, provide me with a contact to find out about my status in the Program.
I'm guessing that a new provider is managing the web site now. I just tried logging in right now, and my old password no longer worked. Fortunately, the "mail me my password" feature did work, and I got a new password. This password was very random -- not the all-numeric password that I used to use. As well, I was able to change the password in the "manage my account" section, something that I don't remember being possible before. As well, note that "developerpavilion.com" was registered on October 8, 2004, relatively recently. Finally, the change from "spp.palmos.com" to "developerpavilion.com" indicates to me some sort of offsite resourcing.
If there was some change from one web/hosting facility to another, then it's possible (even likely) that your account record failed to migrate to the new system. That often happens when migrating old records that might fail some validation test. As examples, my own membership has been cancelled twice in the past for just that reason. And I worked at PalmSource at the time!
If your account is indeed gone, then you'll probably just have to re-apply. I'd guess that that's what you'd hear if you contacted a real, live support person. And as it says on the web page, "Creating an account is free, secure, and takes only a few minutes."
