I dont mind paying for something if it will be useful for my project and
will make my program more useful to my users. But I do mind if my
program then has to become free because I'm using one piece of code.

Same thing, I dont mind working on something for the benefit of others
(ie a free SSL library) but I do mind if my program will have to become
free as a result.

This is not the place for a philosophical discussion on the GPL. But I
resent the GPL as it is only for large corporations (what a paradox) who
can live off support. It is not for individual programmers who want to
live from their software and not from support.

I say, boycott the GPL.
