It's already been done. Security and copy protection on current PalmOS
devices is trivial to subvert. I don't think this is a bad thing, however.
I really don't want my device loaded down with the overhead it would
take to do this sort of thing properly. The truth is you CAN NOT
prevent people from copying your app, no matter what you do. In
the digital era, 99.9999% secure may as well be 0% secure. There are
plenty of "l33t warez" sites where you can get the cracked version of
just about anything. I'm not saying this is right, however. It has been
proven time and again that digital copy protection schemes can be
subverted. You cannot solve a social problem with software. The
correct solution is to go after pirates in the legal realm, and make sure
that the penalties are high enough that others are detered from committing
those crimes in the first place.
