Just an opinion, but giving the user a bunch of choices in which the first
30 characters are all the same seems a bit user-unfriendly.  I suggest that
you remove the characters that are the same and display a list of what
remains.  If you have to have the first 30 characters, try putting it in a
label above, or to the left of, the list.  Or, if the list is the only thing
on the form, you could put those characters in the title.  My 2c.
