You can probably do a lot just by watching for frmOpenEvent and/or WinEnterEvent.Register a callback function (else things are too slow) for 'hede' notification; make sure you lock the callback function in memory; I tend to copy such functions to heap, and then lock then in heap and MemPtrSetOwner( p, 0 ); for an example of code that does this, look at FixField in the CVS repository of sf.net/projects/handypalmstuff; FixField does it in ARM and 68K, but you can just omit the ARM stuff entirely and it will still work.
Another option is to use YAHM (yahm.palmoid.com) and patch a couple of functions and use calls to those functions to guess when the events you're interested in happen. You can use a resource viewer like prcexplorer (google) to find out which form has which form number in the email app. And if the email app's EULA does not prohibit reverse engineering (unlikely!) you can use the Palm simulator to watch the events that happen when an email is written and sent--this should give you some ideas of which events to use for anchoring your measurements. I do need to warn you--this is not an ideal project for a newbie PalmOS developer. -- For information on using the ACCESS Developer Forums, or to unsubscribe, please see http://www.access-company.com/developers/forums/
