ExgDBWrite ( & read) pass the data in the same format as a pdb/prc file.
The first block is the 72 Byte header. The small blocks are the
reasouce/record headers. Then you get the individual resource/records.
see http://web.mit.edu/tytso/www/pilot/prc-format.html (first hit from
google)

Is there a way I can use ExgDBWrite to beam a database subset (like
the Beam Category of the built-in apps) without first building an
intermediate database? Is it how these apps proceed?
Checking what gets sent, I see the name of the DB starts at byte 0
of the first beamed block. After that is a series of small blocks
(10 bytes or less), then the appInfo block and records. Is this
format documented somewhere?
At worst, if the format ExgDBWrite uses were documented, I could
manually reproduce it on a database subset.
If I beam ny DB to a PC, it automatically gets a .prc extension, yet
I don't see this passed in the beamed blocks nor in the socket. Where
does it come from (and why isn't it .pdb?)
