I want to be able to beam my PDBs both to another PalmOS device running my app and to a PC supporting IrDA. I thus use ExgDBWrite, passing in socket.name the DB name with the .pdb suffix (ex. test_Ntwk.PDB). This works fine when I beam my PDB to a PC. In my app, when I get a sysAppLaunchCmdExgReceiveData launch code, I remove the .PDB suffix in socket.name to only keep the DB name (ex. Test_Ntwk) but ExgDBRead returns an error code of 0x021A (dmErrInvalidDatabaseName). It doesn't work either if I leave the .PDB suffix. What am I doing wrong?
2 more questions: Is it just me, or the socket.appData field does get cleared before reaching the other device? Whatever I put on the transmitting side, I get 0 on the other side. What use is this field then? Just passing data between launch codes on the receiving device? If I don't explicitely put my creator ID in socket.target, the beam is handled by the Launcher, even though the beamed database bears my creator ID. Shouldn't my app automatically receive and handle any beamed DB that bears its creator ID? Or do I need to call the ExgRegisterDatatype API? It does not seem to support creator IDs.
