Wenn es sich um ein produktives System handelt würde ich schon erst sicherstellen, dass die einzelnen Updates funktionieren. Das Update-Script nutzt ja auch versch. Kernfunktionen, um u.U. Daten zu manipulieren.
Zwingend notwendig ist es nicht, aber sehr empfehlenswert.
