Comment (by darkblueb): Rocker Discussion - 2020 [https://github.com/rocker- org/geospatial/issues/31 here] The R Spatial Docker lead [http://carlboettiger.info Carl] reports that they have a Docker image updated to UbuntuGIS Focal -- base --> (rocker/geospatial:latest) use the Ubuntu-focal libs, yielding Universe GEOS 3.8.0, GDAL 3.0.4, PROJ 6.3.1 secondly, they have a named version that pulls from UbuntuGIS specifically -> (rocker/geospatial:ubuntugis) yielding UbuntuGIS GEOS 3.8.1, GDAL 3.1.3, PROJ 7.1.1 third, they would like to build a setup that compiles the chain from source, but that is not ready now .. I suggested they start with GDAL 3.2x GEOS 3.8x PROJ 7x over time, that last one could also be used for GEOS 3.9 dev, and I know the GEOS team wants that from a Marketing point of view, I included "we/OSGeo dot org are interested to work well with the greater R community. and be appropriately visible to your users", so a logo added somewhere, a README entry .. things like that.. -- Ticket URL: <https://trac.osgeo.org/osgeolive/ticket/2248#comment:5> OSGeoLive <https://live.osgeo.org/> self-contained bootable DVD, USB thumb drive or Virtual Machine based on Lubuntu, that allows you to try a wide variety of open source geospatial software without installing anything.
